Getting Legal Aid

If you want to apply for Legal Aid and need more information, please choose the topic from the menu on the right-hand side of this page. If you can’t find the information you need, please visit the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, or use the search bar at the top of this page.

NS Legal Aid (NSLA) offers legal help to all Nova Scotians who need it. Though we give priority to people in financial need, we have many legal services available including:

  • Legal information
  • Legal advice
  • Representation by a lawyer

NS Legal Aid has offices in every region of the Province. All of our offices provide information, advice and representation (to qualified applicants). Contact us to make an appointment.

We also offer community walk-in clinics to help people understand the legal process, answer their questions and help them get legal aid. Please view our Calendar to find the locations and programs offered.
