Accepting Legal Aid Certificates
If you are interested in accepting Legal Aid Certificates and want to be added to Nova Scotia Legal Aid’s Certificate Lawyers’ Roster, please complete the form below. By completing the form, you are indicating your agreement with accepting Certificates issued according to the terms of the Legal Aid Regulations and Tariff of Fees made under the Legal Aid Act which can be found here: Tariff Reference Manual Effective April 1, 2021
Please note that there are Certificate Lawyer Practice Concentration Standards for lawyers accepting Legal Aid Certificates and those standards are outlined in the Tariff Reference Manual. By accepting a Legal Aid Certificate, you are confirming that you meet the Standards. Should you have any questions regarding the Standards, please contact the Managing Lawyers of the offices from which you are interested in accepting Certificates or the Deputy Executive Officer. Once you have confirmed that you meet the Standards for accepting Legal Aid Certificates with the Managing Lawyers, you can be set up with login capabilities to the Certificate & AHTDC Lawyers Login section of this website.
Please note that it is not a requirement to complete this form to join a NSLA Office’s Certificate Roster. When a completed form is processed, it does not approve a lawyer for Certificates, but rather their information is shared with the Managing Lawyers of the offices for which they are interested in accepting Certificates. The lawyer must then confirm they meet the Certificate Lawyer Practice Concentration Standards with the Managing Lawyers of the offices for which they wish to accept Certificates prior to being added to that office’s Certificate Roster.
